In 1980 Sven Dohrow and Ronny Schhreinzer decided to embark on a joint musical career. They were inspired by bands like Tubeway Army, Gary Numan, OMD and Depeche Mode. Their preference for electronic music was often undermined by the fact, that although a lot of electronic groups were technically talented, their songs were somehow lacking in character. Sven and Ronny were determined this should not happen in their case.

At this time they decided on the name THE TWINS. This arose from the fact that Sven and Ronny were composers, musicians, and producers of their music at the same time.
The first Twins single “The Desert Place” (1981) went straight into the German disco charts and also in the U.S. Billboard dance charts in the same year.

This culminated in four chart hits in Germany between 1983-1986. They also started to have all – European success with, for instance, three top-ten hits in Italy (combined with more than 40 TV appearances), top ten in Australia, top twenty in U.S. Billboard dance charts again and releases and shows in more than 80 countries around the world.

Due to their big success, Sven and Ronny had to put together a live-band because the fans wanted to see them on stage as well. THE TWINS had the chance to prove that they were no “one-hit-wonder” and according to their fans, their live-act was worth the money. They did many tours throughout Europe with their new five-piece band, and by the end of 1987 after THE TWINS had released their album “Hold on to your dreams” they were offered to do a tour in the Soviet Union which brought them to Moscow and Leningrad. During these 10 concerts, the had the opportunity to play in front of a 120.000 people audience.

In 2007 THE TWINS released a new double CD called „12-inch Classics and rare tracks“ plus their first DVD called „The Twins – Live in Sweden“. 2008 followed the ultimate “Singles Collection”, on which all their hit singles have been compiled to one unique double CD

In May 2011 The Twins attend the famous Wave-Gothic-Meeting in Leipzig, Germany as one of the top acts of this European wide renowned festival. THE TWINS will continue to go on tour and play live concerts throughout Europe. In 2018 THE TWINS released a new album called „Living For the Future“.
